Happy Holidaze - take a break

We've had some laughs these last couple of weeks and seen some of my favorite Golden images, but it's time to wind down and get a little more serious. The ten day respite between Christmas eve and the first Monday back to work in 2011 is almost upon us. Busy would be an understatement describing what is in store for Lady and I from now until 2011. Wanted to wish all my bloggy friends, readers and lurkers the VERY BEST during the remainder of the year and 2011. I'll be popping in and out of cyberspace the next ten days and will check in with all of my regular bloggers as much as possible. May or may not post during that time, but until then.....

Normally I would edit these pictures, but I'm still debating what affordable photo editing software to invest in. I'm familiar and comfortable with the ArcSoft PhotoStudio (prices vary between $60-$110), but there are so many other good ones on the market for far less $$. If you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

Here's hoping all you Golden dreams and wishes come true.

My good buddy Duke the Big Dog went to the bridge today. The classic gentle giant, he was a sweet and devoted companion to Brian, Kim and Skylar. He will be missed. See ya at the bridge big guy.

Took a day off from posting yesterday. The result was; shopping completed, winery trips accomplished and some nice pictures snapped. First thing: found a very nice Holiday music sampler on Amazon. Instrumental versions, a great way to get into the spirit. Oh yea, they are all FREE.

Columbia Winery, Woodenville, WA

A very comfy setting at Columbia Winery. Big screen TV showing the
Seahawks getting pummeled by the Falcons didn't seem to deflate the mood.

The fabulous Chateau Ste. Michelle winery right across the street from Columbia.
Beautiful grounds, great wine and an outdoor amphitheater for first class concerts.

Last year I visited a small Southern town where there was a "Nativity Scene" that showed great skill and talent had gone into creating it. One small feature puzzled me. The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets.  Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I headed back to my hotel.

At a "Quick Stop" on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. She exploded into a rage, yelling at me, "You damn Yankees (Seattle?) never do read the Bible!" I assured her that I had, but simply couldn't recall anything about firemen in the Bible. She jerked her Bible from behind the counter and ruffled through some pages, and finally jabbed her finger at a passage. Sticking it in my face she said 
“See, it says right here, The three wise man came from afar.”

At least the VW is red!

Sedona, AZ, Oak Creek - the shoreline behind the dogs is Red Rock State park, very close to the ranger booth at the entrance. Devo's rock sits on rare creek front private property. I'll bet the Ruby Red dog knows right where this is! It is a beautiful place. Devo was asking permission to jump in. Lady had already tested the rain swollen creek.

Just a reminder, all these images were Christmas cards sent by snail mail
 starting around 1987, a different one every season for 15 years!

When I said "make shift studio" I wasn't kidding - However, Lady is lovely in any setting.
Somebody made a noise like a hot dog  (ha, made you look)

On another note....We all know the record industry has needed a good housecleaning over the last 30 years. These are real album covers with (some sort of) music inside. The evidence speaks for itself.
